I have been coming down to Key Largo since I started dating my wife almost 10 years ago. I never really gave to much thought to riding here. There really is only 1 road, US 1 and its a 55-45mph road. Plus I lived most of that time in Colorado so I did not want to ship a bike.
But now that we are on the east coast and it is sort of drivable to get here. so I brought a bike.
There is good riding!
There is a bike path on most of US1, plus nice side roads to hit up. I rode down to Old US1 in Islamorada and rode that till the end, rode back, jumped on burton to Harry Harris park, back up to Pennekamp and back. Not a bad ride.
Plus I heard that there is a group ride Sundays at 7:30... I'll find out tomorrow.
Beware of the gravel though. A lot of the driveways are gravel and it spills on to the path, which caused me my first two road flats in a recent memory. There is a shop in Tavernier that has tubes, called Tavernier Bikes.
